Music Of The Heart
The truly spiritual cultures throughout history have been the ones that have made no delineations between the secular and the sacred. They have had the wisdom to see that inherent to all life was divinity, either slumbering or expressed.
In many cultures, the sacred, regenerative powers of sexuality coupled with love have been deeply revered. As a result, they have flourished, rich in vitality and gilded by the reverence attached to the act of procreation.
In my teaching of spirituality to students of different nationalities, a common thread ran through their cultures: sexuality had somehow become separated from love and furthermore had lost its luster. It had been diminished from the sacred and relegated to the banal and commonplace.
It had become totally devoid of romance. I wanted to restore romance to sexuality to track the origins of its demise and place it back on its throne of the heart, from which it had been deposed. It is for this reason that I jointly composed with the master Paul Gasztold from Toronto, Canada and sung the musical CD An Affaire of the Heart.
I had understood that part of the lusterless condition sexuality as a whole had dwindled into was due to the fear of both genders to go too deeply into opposite polarities – an essential component of vitality. Women did not want to seem overly assertive, and men shielded away from being too receptive or passive. The pulsating into opposite poles throughout the music was therefore very specifically designed.
